Un portavoce del Republican Sinn Féin ha riferito che la notizia che otto agenti operativi del SAS (Special Air Service, ufficialmente un gruppo anti-terrorismo dell’esercito britannico, in realtà un reparto specializzato nell’assassinio a sangue freddo di repubblicani irlandesi, ndr) hanno fornito prove contro tre uomini accusati di essere coinvolti in attività repubblicane a nord di Armagh mostra come questi sinistri elementi siano ancora attivi in Irlanda.

“Pur se impegnati nei loro loschi traffici in posti come Afghanistan ed Iraq, questi ultimi sviluppi dimostrano come l’Irlanda sia per loro ancora teatro di operazioni: non vo è alcun dubbio che queste nefaste attività continuino, a prescindere dal loro essere state ribattezzate in altra maniera”.

“Il loro testimoniare in videoconferenza, ed in segreto, può solo danneggiare la possibilità per questi tre uomini di ottenere un equo processo. Così come il rilascio del cosiddetto “Attestato di immunità per pubblico interesse”, che fa in modo che possano essere stralciate informazioni utili per la difesa degli imputati. Tutto ciò ci dimostra come siano ancora una volta di fronte a processi-farsa”.

“The giving of evidence via video-link, and in secret, can only compromise the ability of these men to receive a fair trial. So too does the issuing of a so-called “Public Interest Immunity Certificate”, which prevents any details which may be of use to the defence from being elicited.
