Agenti di polizia sono stati attaccati con pietre e bottiglie incendiarie durante le rivolte scoppiate nelle strade di est e sud Belfast durante la notte da bande di ragazzi di entrambe le comunità.

Alcuni poliziotti, durante un pattugliamento, sono stati presi di mira da sporadici lanci di pietre nelle aree nazionaliste di Cromac Street, Markets, lower Ormeau Road e Short Strand, ma anche nella lealista lower Newtownards Road.

La polizia coloniale britannica (PSNI) ha reso noto che qualche bottiglia incendiaria è stata tirata all’indirizzo degli agenti durante gli scontri nelle zone di Cromac Street e di Pitt Park.

Non si hanno notizie di feriti. Il parlamentare del Provisional Sinn Féin Alex Maskey ed il consigliere comunale Jim Rodgers dell’Ulster Unionist Party hanno condannato le violenze.

Police officers have come under attack with stones and petrol bombs during overnight rioting in the streets of south and east Belfast by gangs of young people from both sides of the community.

Police were called out last night to a number of places following reports of sporadic stone throwing, including the nationalist Cromac Street, the Markets, lower Ormeau Road and the Short Strand and the loyalist lower Newtownards Road.

The PSNI says a small number of petrol bombs were thrown at police officers during the clashes.

There were no reports of any injuries. Provisional Sinn Fein Assembly member Alex Maskey and Ulster Unionist councillor Jim Rodgers condemned the attacks.  (Belfast Telegraph)
