“La polizia mi costringe a scegliere fra esilio o morte”

Un uomo di Derry ha denunciato di essere stato costretto a scegliere fra “esilio o morte” dalla polizia coloniale britannica nel nord Irlanda (PSNI) che, ha spiegato l’uomo, sta cercando di fargli pressioni per arruolarlo come informatore.

L’uomo, che ha chiesto di rimanere anonimo, ha spiegato che questa è la seconda volta in due anni che è stato avvicinato dal PSNI.

“Non sono legato ad alcun movimento ma per qualche ragione il PSNI crede il contrario, visto che vogliono infiltrarmi come informatore”.

“Avevo appena lasciato un mio amico all’aeroporto di Derry e stavo tornando in città quando ho icnrociato una volante ed un posto di blocco. Ho rallentato, mi hanno chiesto la patente, e quando gliel’ho data mi hanno detto di scendere”.

“Mentre ero ancora seduto improvvisamente un uomo in uniforme, che ho riconosciuto essere dello Special Branch (la polizia politica in Irlanda del Nord) ha aperto lo sportello del passeggero e si è infilato in macchina. Un altro in piedi bloccava lo sportello del guidatore in modo da non farmi uscire”.

L’uomo ha proseguito: “Quello ha esordito dicendomi che volevano solo aiutarmi. Hanno detto che stavo frequentando gente molto pericolosa, e che loro avevano bisogno del mio aiuto. Quindi hanno accennato ad un recente viaggio che avevo fatto e mi hanno detto che a Praga non mi hanno beccato “per un pelo”. Mi sono sentito molto minacciato in questa vicenda, così come ritengo che stiano minacciando me e la mia stessa vita”.

“Perché dopo tutto quello che noi abbiamo udito circa una nuova fase del corpo di polizia mi stanno lasciando con la scelta dell’esilio o della morte, visto che a quanto vedo non ho alternative? Mi hanno detto che mi avrebbero contattato ancora, aggiungendo che non sarebbe passato molto tempo questa volta. Che cosa dovrei fare?”

A Derry man has claimed that he is being forced to chose between ‘exile or death’ by the PSNI who he said are trying to pressurise him into acting as an informer.

The man, who asked not to be identified, said that this was the second time in two years that he had been approached by the PSNi.

He claimed: “I am not involved in any movement but for some reason the PSNI seem to feel that they want me to turn informer. I was approached about two years ago and they tried to pressurise me then and now this has happened.

“I had just left my friend to the City of Derry airport and was driving back towards the city when there was a police car and checkpoint on the road. I slowed down and they asked for my licence and when I gave it to them they told me to pull

The man said: “Why is it that after al we have heard about the so called new beginning to policing that they are leaving me with the choice of either death or exile because as far as I can see there is not other alternative available for me. They told me they would be in contact again and they added that it would not be as long the next time. What am I supposed to do?”  (Sunday Journal)
